Dear Residents,

Yesterday I was interviewed by News 12 regarding Governor Hochul’s “Housing Compact.”  As I have previously stated, I think the changes the Governor is proposing to zoning on Long Island will be very detrimental to the character of Munsey Park.  Fully implemented, the Governor’s proposal could result in as many as 1,250 apartment units being constructed in Munsey Park (compare that to the fact that the Village today consists of approximately 845 single family homes).  In addition, the Village would not be able to control new construction anywhere in the Village resulting in multiple new homes being built where today one a single home exists.

The interview, as edited and televised, may be found here: https://longisland.news12.com/munsey-park-mayor-says-governors-housing-plan-will-have-catastrophic-effects-across-li

Please reach out to our Albany representatives and demand that this proposal be defeated as it is currently structured.

Respectfully,

Lawrence A. Ceriello
Mayor, Village of Munsey Park
