MAYOR’S REPORT
Mayor Ceriello opened a discussion with residents in attendance to discuss plans for Waldmann Park. He reminded residents of the many functions of Waldmann including its use as an outdoor theater for MPWC’s movie night, for sledding in the winter, a large lawn for various activities and so many other purposes all critical to the enjoyment of our community. He assured residents that what makes the park beautiful and striking would not change.
The Mayor explained that over the last few years, the Village has renovated the small parks that grace main entrances (including the Park Avenue hill), traffic intersections and the cul-de-sacs in the Village. However, the other two largest parks, Waldmann Memorial Park and Copley Pond Park, have received only minimal attention as funds allowed. The Village installed drywells in Waldmann to alleviate the flooding that often resulted in large sections of the park being submerged for extended periods. Similarly, the Village is in the process of adding drywells to Copley to avoid the periodic overflow from the pond that impacts the rear yards of residents on Whistler Road.
We were very fortunate to be approved for a $110,000 grant which would be used to enhance the enjoyment of the park by all residents while improving and maintaining its simplistic beauty. The Mayor explained that contrary to what residents had been told, he didn’t foresee any major changes to the look, use or character of either park and expect the footprint of any work we do to be subtle and inconspicuous. Many residents at the meeting asked to be involved in the planning of these improvements and are welcomed to such involvement. Mayor Ceriello asked anyone interested to call Village Hall. Regardless of whether you are involved in the day-to-day of this process, all plans and each step of the process will be fully disclosed to residents before any work occurs (which will not be until 2026 at the earliest). Following a robust but friendly discussion, the discussion ended.

Motion to close the Board of Trustees Public Meeting was made by Trustee Im, seconded by Deputy Mayor Miller and unanimously approved at 8:59 pm.
