The Mayor called the meeting to order at 8:10 PM.

 

2007 ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

Christopher Clement of Dvirka & Bartilucci reported that Project B is a little behind schedule.  They are now working on Copley Road, Sully Drive and Vanderlyn Drive.  Mr. Patinella of 45 Peale Road spoke to the Board of Trustees about the roadwork ending at the end of his driveway.  He requested that the Board review the plan to see if they would extend the Belgian blocks further onto his property.  The Mayor asked Mr. Clement to review Mr. Patinella’s request and report back to the Board with his findings.

                                                     

MINUTES for the meeting of July 11, 2007, were approved as submitted.

 

CLAIMS from July to September 2007 were presented by the Deputy Clerk Disbursements as detailed in Abstract of Vouchers in the amount of $504,706.91, including claim a claim paid to New York Paving for roadwork in the amount of $304,362.61 and rubbish removal of $54,987.00.

 

JUSTICE REPORT for August 2007 was submitted and stated revenues in the amount of $10,695.00, of which $2,960.00 was for parking. 

 

POLICE REPORT for July and August 2007 was distributed to the Board.  During those months, 134 tickets were issued (84 for vehicle and traffic violation and 50 for parking). There were 10 auto accidents, 10 aided (other than auto), 3 larceny (other than auto), 1 criminal mischief.

 

BUILDING INSPECTOR REPORT for July & August 2007 was submitted to the Board.

 

COUNSEL REPORT / COURT MATTERS

The Village Attorney had nothing to report to the Board of Trustees.

 

 

2010 US CENSUS PROGRAM

 

The Deputy Clerk reported that the Village Clerk, Helen Averso, had polled the surrounding villages to see who was going to participate in the 2010 Census Program.  The surrounding villages were not planning to participate in the program.  After discussion, the Board decided not to participate in the program as well.

 

MULTI MODAL GRANT

 

Mayor Nicolaides reported that he had signed the grant which would give the Village $10,000 for repaving and reconstruction of Park Avenue from Abbey Road to Morse Lane.

 

2007 LEAF PICK UP PROGRAM

 

The Mayor and Board approved the schedule for the 2007 leaf pick up program that will be distributed to Village residents.  A motion was made by Mayor Nicolaides and seconded by Deputy Mayor Jaronczyk to distribute the approved schedule to all Village residents.

 

On roll call, the vote was as follows (with the absence of Trustee Puttré):

The Mayor declared the motion approved.

 

10/15/07 INSURANCE RENEWAL - SALERNO BROKERAGE

 

Deputy Mayor Jaronczyk reported that he reviewed the renewals of insurance and spoke with Nicole Morton from Salerno Brokerage.  Deputy Mayor Jaronczyk was very pleased with the coverage the Village was receiving and reported that there was a saving of about $6,000 from last year’s premiums.  A motion was made by Mayor Nicolaides and seconded by Trustee Phillips to renew the insurance with Salerno Brokerage. 

 

 

 

 

On roll call, the vote was as follows (with the absence of Trustee Puttré):

The Major declared the motion approved.

 

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

 

Paul Becker, Chairperson of Emergency Management, reported to the Board that he has about 900 brochures from the Red Cross in reference to the Long Island Hurricane Preparedness Guide that he will be distributing to all Village residents.  He plans to have both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts help him deliver these brochures.

 

At 9:00 PM there was a motion to adjourn to the Executive Session to discuss personnel matters.

 

On roll call, the vote to enter executive session was as follows (with the absence of Trustee Puttré):

                                                     Deputy Mayor Jaronczyk                Aye

                                                     Trustee Phillips                              Aye

The Mayor declared the motion approved. 

 

No action was taken during the Executive Session.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was declared adjourned at 9:30 PM.
